Celebrating three years....

... of unemployment freedom.  Do I miss Texas ?  Well, of course I do.  I spent the majority of my life there.  So many major events took place there.  I met the love of my life in Dallas, my son was born in Garland.  We wandered nearly every section of the state.  David introduced me to fishing and we wet hooks in both the lakes and the coast.
After his passing in 2001 and my son went off to find his love,                I did create my new normal.
It has taken time to transition to North Carolina life. Not quite what I had hoped for, but it never is.  It is its own way of being and my new normal.
Oh, and I was always free.

Yes, more holders...

finished two that will allow you to choose the descriptive word that is added to your art {suggestions: Talent   Love   Magic   Savvy   Genius   Flair}Let me know your preference and it will be added.
Both holders started as brochure holders so the area for cards will require stacking cards or adding a prop to display the card in front.
They are priced at $15.00 each plus shipping.

The business card holders are completed.

And posted for sale on the FB page The Original Made by Hands in the Triad.  Finished one that is truly "one of a kind".  Picked up a glass Art Deco frame and enhanced it with gold star embossed paper backing and wording printed on vellum that has silver stars.  The MAGIC is black glitter style lettering and then added a clear card holder.  Measures 12" x 10"
Additionally altered another frame and prepped two smaller holders for custom orders.
Let me know if you might like to purchase one before your next show - - custom orders should not take more than a week and will be priced according to items you want included.

And more news !!!  Have arranged to have a few select items shown and available for sale at the Ohana Arts and Wellness Center located in High Point.  The owners are revamping one area for use as a gallery and should be completed by the end of this month.  The center is an amazing gathering place that offers so much for the community.  This is their web site:

Thanks to a wonderful friend, you can now purchase a selection of my cards at
J Knox Designs located in Santa Fe, Texas.  Check out their FB page and if you are in the area, stop by and visit them.  Eclectic collection of repurposed items and lighting fixtures.

Admit it....You have said this

and heard it as well when participating in an art show.  People come by your booth and boldly state "I could make this...".  Difficult not to respond with snarky remarks.  Usually respond with  the obvious - I created these items and included a piece of myself in each one.  This remark has not proven to be a good sales tool.
this is wood stand with scrabble
tile rack cut & attached to
hold cards
So - - I decided to create business card holders that do state what has gone into each item - - magic and love  (along with materials, time and talent - but that should be obvious.
photo frame altered with alcohol ink,
insert printed on handmade papers
with colored lettering for LOVE
These are the two finished with a few others in the pipeline.  Let me know what you think.   And yes, they are available for sale and I do accept custom orders.

Did you read that post on Citra Solv ?

... well this is the next step for some of the papers.  Digitally altered by using CraftArtist software to create stencils.  Overlaid stencil on papers to get a very colorful bird.
Really needed this for myself today - - a bit of encouragement required for  a few reasons.

Did submit one of my creations to Greenhill Gallery - they have a "little" exhibit that all work submitted must be 7" square.  I used by favorite citra solv design {the one on left}, printed it on canvas stock then cut it down to size.
This one sheet of citra solv altered paper has been altered and used on other projects as well.
The last version show was a packing tape transfer of the photo on embossed paper then attached to a small blue piece of scrapbook paper.  Perfect for scan and then print as postcard.

New month.....

... new creations.  Worked on separating / extracting older National Geographic magazines from my stash.  Ended up with TWO boxes that will be donated to Reconsidered Goods.  Books are in good shape, just not usable for Citra Solv creations.
There are two methods of applying the Citra Solv to pages - one is to leave the book bound and pick & choose where to apply the solvent.  I have had mediocre success and feel like there is the chance of wasting quite a bit of the solvent.  My preferred method is taking the time to remove pages that have potential for melting into amazing designs or transferring images.  I spent a few hours removing pages and in doing that found some smaller images perfect for ATC creations.
The two ATC's shown here are packing tape transfers of the smaller images.
I scan all cards created for posting on FB & MMSA for trading - the cabin card got a bit skewed when scanned.
