Fixin' to get 'round to it....

... as in fixin' to get round to finishing this round box.  Another find at Reconsidered Goods finished with decoupage of a beautiful butterfly print napkin.  Painted with luminere paints and the knob
on top was a find from a garage sale - mixed in with netting and shells.  The base is a clear candle stick holder colored with alcohol inks.

The inside reads:
butterflies cannot see their wings.  they cannot see how beautiful they are, but
everyone else can.
people are like that too
measures approximately 6-1/2" tall with knob, 6" across.

*available for sale $25 plus s/h

Another small box...

... that has a collection of stuff.  There are gears {both metal and altered chipboard}, drywall tape, a part of an old ruler, half of a magnetic cuff link, brads for paper crafts, and miscellaneous hardware acquired along the way.  As usual, not what was planned but it seemed to create itself.
Still on workbench in case some other piece
of material is attracted to the box.

Work in progress....

... have you ever picked up an item at a garage/tag sale not knowing the reason why at the time...but time passes and a brain cramp goes "uh huh - that is it !".  Original thought was a boat with sail in the middle, then vertical with beads in middle, then the UH HUH....a windchime.  Thanks to DIL, have an extensive collection of keys that will be at the bottom.  And thanks to my go to for constructive criticism, colored glass beads and simulated sea glass have been added.  The large crystal in center of the spindle is from a salvaged chandelier.  Now just have to get it to a person that can string it all together for me.

Leave a little sparkle...

... wherever you go.    Small wood box with magnetic closure painted with metallic inks, sequin waste on the top (with liquid pearls drops), small handle, a little bit of heat emboss and door pull / knob feet.  Learned the hard way the feet are a struggle to attach without the right hardware and small space to work.
Measures 4-3/4" across, 2-3/4" deep and 2-1/2" tall{including feet}.

A box full of darkness....

Someone I once loved
gave me a box full
of darkness.

It took me years to
understand that
this too was
a gift.

Winds of change....

Sometimes the winds of change don't always knock you off your
feet.
Sometimes they come to shake you enough to remind you of how
strong you really are.

Needed this reminder on a challenging Monday.

Today working on....

repurposing wood boxes.

The hexagon shaped box with uneven sides became the perfect one for an octopus design - odd match but it fits.  Small box just 2-1/2" deep and 5" wide across the back.  Wording on ribbon on octopus is:  So little time, so much to do & see !  Outside is decoupage using dinner napkin.  Inside is decorated with seashells.

The rectangular box is for Summer Memories.  Measures 6" wide, 4" deep and 3-3/4" tall.  Enhanced with butterflies.  Inside is painted and not decorated.  Both boxes are available for sale....email me if you are interested.

Believe in ....

the things inside you

all the moons. all the stars,

all the winds and all the fires

they all move when you move.

everything unfolds and shifts

with the rise of your chest.

Starting April the right way....

... movies, friends, art, wandering, and gardening.  Oh, and another birthday.
The movie was "The Last Word" with Shirley MacLaine.  Not necessarily my favorite actor BUT she was the only person that could have pulled this off.  Amazing show !!
And garden - went to Carolina Gardens in Greensboro.   Amazing place - they grow everything there at the location.  Purchased and planted lemon grass again.  The wanderings were right across the street - two beautiful old barns.
As for art....purchased another two heads.  Yes, you read that right.  But they are on the back section of the workbench while I finish a few odds and ends.  Had these five small wood clipboards ready for assembly so wrapped that up this morning.  The
clips were enhanced with alcohol inks and then the wood painted and embellished.

Now back to organizing the work space....ok, more like shuffling the stuff to see what comes out on top.
